The Band (our core players)

Put yourself or a dental professional musician in the band for a song or two! globalmolars@gmail.com

John Crouch, USA,

Writer/editor, guitars, vocals

As the “founder,” I’ll admit this is a bit more illness than talent. Working in dentistry, it just started coming a bit too easy that some dental lyrics were falling in place to some of my favorite songs. And GarageBand and Karaoke tracks enabled this odd output, and they were getting some laughs. I was solo for a while, thinking nobody else was crazy enough to join me. Then the pandemic hit forcing us all online and the crossing of paths with literally thousands of dentists, assistants and other industry professionals had me start asking if anyone wanted to try - and to my surprise, several did along with numerous “adjunct” performers that step in for a song now and again. And this is really the essence of Global Molars - promoting dentistry in a fun way by scores of people who know it best.

Örjan Ericson, Switzerland,

Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals

Working in the dental business since more than 15 years, Global Molars is a new funny way for me of promoting good dentistry, without advertising any products.
Music has always been my passion, but I hadn't played with other musicians since years, until John reached out to me at the end of 2020. I'm really grateful for his initiative, which is a wonderful way of connecting in a relaxed way with colleagues, friends and the dental community! Personally I enjoy listening to all kinds of music, which is clearly visible in my record collection. However, when I start singing and playing my keyboards and guitars, I tend to feel most comfortable within some kind of rock, pop, soul, funk and ballads....

Prof Markus Blatz, USA,

Drummer

Gaetano Paolone, Italy

Bass

Terry O’Bannon, USA,

Percussion

In High School I had to decide whether to go to college to study percussion, engineering or human anatomy. I ended up going to engineering school, taking pre-med at a Liberal Arts school on the side, and also continued to take music lessons. Thirty years later, I’m still ignoring everybody who said “You can only choose one!” I’ve been a biomechanical researcher for years, and I have a small business specializing in seat ergonomics and testing (looking at you, Treatment Centers division). I enjoy jazz, classic rock, and classical music (the loud boisterous kind needing lots of timpani), and I’ve been in church, community and gigging orchestras, combos and bands for percussion and also keyboards all along. I’ve had two crowns (via CEREC), porcelain veneers, composite fillings and targeted sealants.

Terry is our sole member not exactly working in the dental industry; but he’s my cousin, a ‘specialist’ in percussion, and crazy enough to join us in these endeavors!
